Penurunan matauang ini disebabkan karena tertekan oleh kenaikan yang kuat dari dolar AS. Ekspektasi dari akan keluarnya stimulus fiskal AS yang masif terus mendorong kenaikan imbal hasil obligasi treasury AS yang pada gilirannya mendukung kenaikan dolar AS.<\/p>\n<p>Pounsterling Inggris juga tertekan turun oleh PMI Jasa Inggris dimana angka final yang keluar untuk bulan Januari adalah sebesar 39.5. Meskipun angka ini masih sedikit lebih baik dari pada angka yang diperkirakan sebesar 38.8, namun masih mengarah kepada kontraksi yang tajam di sektor Jasa sejak bulan Mei 2020.
